Grow and launch an established ‘Tech For Good’ company as Head of United Kingdom for BetterNow
We search for an entrepreneurial and mission-driven self-starter. A person who can and will take on the challenging task of building up BetterNow in the United Kingdom. Our decision to launch in the United Kingdom is more than launching in a new market, it is a pivotal moment for BetterNow.
You will be part of the BetterNow Management Team and your compensation package will include equity.
The task and you
Your task will be varied and they will change over time. We look for someone who can both think strategically, bring new sales in on your own, hire new employees, set-up an advertising campaign, create a budget and do the filing with Companies House.
You will be challenged constantly and we in no way expect you have experience with all the tasks above. We are looking for a fast-learner, with high risk-tolerance and who isn’t afraid to jump in and solve tasks that you have never seen before.
That said, here are some experience that will be a strong advantage in your new adventure
Sales experience. Expect rejection and a lot of it. So if your skin has been hardened by a stint in cold sales then that isn’t a bad thing at all. And the basic sales discipline will help you too. Your sales experience is preferably from BtB sales and you have tried managing a pipeline before.
Worked with charities. The non-for-profit sector doesn’t work as the for-profit economy. Creating and selling products for this sector differs in important ways. So professional experience from working with or in the sector is a benefit.
Experience doing something on your own. Started your own business? responsible for launching a product on your own? entered a new market as country manager for a company? All will have prepared you for this adventure.
Hiring and recruiting experience. We expect you to start hiring colleagues at the end of this year. Being able to attract and retain the best of the best will be a very important skill.
BetterNow was established in 2011. Based in Copenhagen we wanted to take the culture of charitable fundraising that is so prevalent in the United Kingdom and bring it to Scandinavia. We did that, we became the biggest giving platform in Scandinavia. But we learned.
Giving platforms are inherently a bad idea. They make little sense. We turned the concept around and built a white label solution that does the same as giving platforms. Just without all the downsides. We offer the charity to leverage their brand, receive all donor data and thus enabling them to do better fundraising by focusing on long-term donor relations.
And now we are back where we found our initial inspiration. Whereas the rest of the world has white label fundraising platforms on offer, the UK is still stuck with giving platforms. We are here to change that.
We are an international team, our corporate language have always been english and more than 15 different nationalities have worked in BetterNow. We are a “remote-first” company, using tools such as Slack, Trello, Zoom, etc. to communicate.
